Number of Tourists Increases Dramatically 12. júlí 2006 11:22 Ferðamenn virða Skaftarfellsjökul fyrir sér frá Sjónpípu The number of tourists coming to Iceland has increased faster than, for example, the number of Icelanders or the number of cars in the country, according to a report issued by geographer and guide Bjarni Reynarsson for the Traffic Council. The report also says that the majority of these tourists explore the southwest portion of Iceland, although large numbers also visit Akureyri and Mývatn in the north. It is the report’s recommendation that more be done to keep up the maintenance of the roads, and that weather and road conditions be made more readily available in English.
